Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Picture not showing on tv
Out of the box, I was able to use the official dock. However, after putting the Deck to sleep and waking it, the dock would no longer send a signal to my Sony TV. I have tried restarting the deck, using different hdmi cables and ports. When in the desktop mode, the tv recognized, but no matter what I do, the picture and sound don't show up and the tv reports no signal.

Just got my dock in. Picture showed up and flashed a couple of times and now won’t work. $90 for this? Come’on man. Wtf.

Yeah I've been having issues with both my monitors, two TVs and using multiple HDMI and DisplayPort cables. Bit of a joke, really. As others have stated, it charges and USB connectivity with controllers works, but not the display. The dock I use for work, well, works seamlessly. Glad, I guess, to see others in the same boat.

It seems to be an issue with the official docking station itself. My LG TV won’t display with it but today I tried using a third party docking station (JSAUX) and the Steam Deck displayed properly on the TV

I get no signal on a Sony KD55XF9005.
When using a 3rd party hub it works, so I know the TV is capable of displaying the Deck screen. Using the dock on an old TV in my bedroom in the meantime.

For anyone still having issues with this, after a day or so of the dock not working, I was finally able to get it to display. This is what I did :

1. On the preview update channel, I accepted an update to the deck at about 1 pm est yesterday.

2. I changed my Samsung 's TV hdmi image settings to game mode.

3. I connected the steam dock and while the deck' s screen was flashing I went to setting and turned off automatic resolution and set it to 2160@30 and clicked on keep settings.

4. After that I rebooted the deck and the image came on.

I hope this helps.

Hey folks- I was able to fix my no image on display port on my monitor. I initially had HDMI working but no display port picture.

First I plugged in my HDMI to get picture on my dock. I then went to settings, display. I turned off “Automatically Set Resolution”.

After I manually set the resolution, I plugged in display port cable and got picture.

Try turning off the Dock and turning it back on, worked for me.
Left the steam deck on and just unplugged the power for the Dock itself and plugged it back in.

Attempted to get the Dock plugged up and working last night, in my current setup.
My current setup is an HDMI multi switch, with about 5 devices plugged into it, with those going out through an Elgato.
The other systems work when hitting the HDMI switch button, but the Steam Deck wouldn't. It showed up on the TV for about 30 seconds at one point, and then switched off/black screen. Unplugging/disconnecting, none of that seemed to solve it.

Tonight I just attempted it again, and the only solution so far has been to directly plug the Steam Deck Dock HDMI cable directly into the Elgato, which is fine for me at the moment, but I feel like it must be something in the settings on the Deck/Dock that makes it have issues when going through an HDMI splitter box?

Not sure where I should report this particular issue...

Same here with my Steam deck official dock, no display on my LG tv. I'm waiting for someone to actually fix this problem.

And before this issue i have an anker usb c hub that's working perfectly. Now when I plugged it in. It shows picture but when I tried to manually set the resolution it is stucked at 640x480 and it's the only option. And when I go to desktop mode, I found it that it detects the hdmi as Display port-0. Which is the anker hub doesn't have a display port socket. I think this is bugged the system of steam deck. This is a whole headache for me now. I don't know if I should ask for a replacement for the dock or the deck itself.

I bought the Jsaux dock, really just to verify. Sure enough it works without issue. The lack of response from Valve about this issue is concerning. /sigh.

In my case (LG C1) it was trying 4k@60Hz and failing. Connecting and disconnecting the dock many times and eventually I was able to set off automatic resolution and select 1080p@60Hz from the steam deck screen. Don't know it it is the cable... It does 1080p@120Hz without a problem.

Screen mirroring to the deck would have been pretty useful since some settings only appear with an external screen.

Maybe the deck should choose a more conservative setting in these cases...

SOLUTION from my issues with the steam dock:

1) Unplug the usb-c and the deck showed up on my TV
2) Went into settings and turned off automatic resolution (set to 1080p and the screen stopped flickering)
3) plug usb-c back in and the deck became usable

**to note: I'm not certain if there's a possible audio latency in the menu areas but that audio latency doesn't exist in games**

Hope this was helpful to someone!

Same. Yesterday the Steam Doc worked fine. Today there is no signal at all. Its working great with a 3th party random 30$ Dockteck USB C Hub, 6-in-1 Dock but not with the original steam doc ????? thats a shame tbh. valve is failing every release of every hardware they ever releases...

This worked for me:

1. On my TV: go to settings and disabled "auto resolution" (my settings are in german so it is "Automatische Formatierung" on my TCL TV .. weird translation btw.)

2. On my Steam Deck: changed the resolution of the second display (my TV) to 1080p which seems to be the maximum it could handle. If I change it to a higher res it doesn't show anything on the TV anymore. If I switch back to 1080p it works fine. The ratio seems to be important too. My TV has a 16:9 ratio so every res 16:9 works just fine (up to 1920 x 1080 as I mentioned).
