Steam Deck

Steam button will pause the game you're playing
I would say this is more of an API kind of thing, but it would be neat if you could give devs to games the ability to pause the game if and when you are going into any kind of Steam menu, such as the Steam button, or the " ... " button and the UI comes up. If the game wanted to implement it through the API, it would pause the game.

Since Steam does provide an API for Steam controller/deck for the buttons so the game can have native Steam support. I'm sure something similar could be implemented.

Here's what you need: https://steamworks.github.io/gettingstarted/ If you're not using unity then you would just need a few minor tweaks

@snowfious However the Quick Settings button does not fire an event. Raised an issue here https://github.com/rlabrecque/Steamworks.NET-Test/issues/20

Also a workaround is the Decky tool of pausing the game right before sleep, and/or opening a Steam menu. While I wouldn't say that solves this issue, which isn't really an issue but more of a suggestion. Because it would be nice if the games pause menu showed/happened when you hit a Steam menu.

I just saw Talos Principle do exactly this, but that was a Linux executable with Steam controller support.

Not actually sure how much I approve - maybe you are wanting to change the display settings while the game continues to run. That would be a possible logical reason for the quick settings button NOT sending the event.

(I don't recall noticing Steam pausing it and Quick Settings not, but I'll take Krupps' word for it).
