Casting from steam deck to smart tv

I would love to be able to cast my steam deck to a smart TV, not as a primary display (where latency would be an issue) but as a way to "stream" my game for others in the room to watch. The cast/screen mirror/airplay protocols are available on almost every app.

I understand it is possible to use an external display with a dock but I would like to be able to use the steam deck as the controller and not be bound by a cord stretched across the room

yeah, you can do exactly this with the steam link app, but you need a steam link box or an equivelent pc that can plug into the tv.

I would prefer the ability to cast directly to a smart tv as well though, that would be dope for watching youtube or movies or tv shows with my deck
