Steam Deck

Release a Steam Controller 2
So about 10 years ago Valve released the Steam Controller. It didn't go well. The Dpad was wonky, it was cheap and plasticky, plus it was associated with Steam Machines and those went over like a lead balloon. Mine disappeared somewhere into the depths of my basement presumably to have been consumed by goblins and I went back to my X-box controller.

With the Steam Deck though I find myself missing it to the point that I spent the better part of a morning tearing through my basement. I really enjoy using the Steam Deck as a plug in console and playing controller driven games. Just finished a run of Chrono Trigger with my daughter. I'd love to be able to play more mouse driven games on my TV though without relying on the thumbstick mouse.

Ergo. Valve should take what they learned from the design of the Steam Deck control scheme and rework it into a wireless controller. I would give them money.

It should be rectangularly shaped I think, instead of the typical batarang we’ve been used to all these years

I would also give them money for it

Bonus points if it can be cheaper than a Dual sense. A steam controller 2 with 4 grip buttons that isn't overpriced would be very welcome in the PC space.

So when will this be released? The last rumour leaked was in Nov 2024. No latest news about this and its release date yet. I’m also waiting for Steam Controller 2 to replace my existing XBOX controller (some games are only partially compatible).

Presumably it would launch with some new Steam hardware, similar to the original one. They would need a controller of their own to launch with a new Steam box that is running SteamOS.
Yes, it would be really great!
