Community Performance Setting Presets for Games
Before what I believed was bricking my Steamdeck (which is unrelated to this discussion besides it involving the Steamdeck) I thought of an idea to have you not needing to adjust the Performance settings (per game settings) yourself which takes precious time. So, I thought up the idea of the Community creating Performance Setting Presets for the Games you are going to play. This will help people not to get into the Performance menu pretty much appealing to console gamers along with quality of life.

Sounds like a good idea on paper but really it’s just offloading more work onto the community that developers ought to be doing if they have access to a Steam Deck.
There’s also the issue of troll settings being submitted that would lower performance.
Also even if you’re a Joe Schmoe there really isn’t much inside the performance menu to configure at this time, and every Steam Deck user should have a basic understanding of what the options in there do (although FSR can be a bit confusing).

This sort of request would make more sense if PowerTools functionality was added into the performance menu, but again that just raises the danger level of troll presets significantly. For the time being it’s better to just look online for posts by users telling you what settings to use.

Also before Valve goes making another UI to manage more community generated content, they need to fix the one they already have for controller configurations. The browser for community controller configs is abysmal.

Yeah, the Presets would be more of a quality-of-life feature when you think about it. I do think the developers should also be able to make official ones as well. The troll problem I believe would solve itself by people downvoting the troll ones. For the power tools stuff that would be nice but I think that should not be shared (maybe an exception for official presets) and be left for advanced users to do that on their own if that were implemented.

For now it would be nice if there was a website to congregate this information on. Even if Valve were to implement it, they would certainly take their sweet time doing so.
