Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Could we get the option for secure boot in bios?
Valorant has started requiring secure boot on Windows 10 rather than just 11. It's a pretty stupid change but I can't play on Steam Deck anymore because there's no way to enable secure boot, and self signed keys don't work. I understand that this is a niche request but I really hope Valve can do this. I'm not asking to make SteamOS work with secure boot either, I'm willing the enable/disable it in bios as needed. I'm not a diehard Valorant fan but I do have friends I enjoy playing with, so don't reply to this with a rant on how Valorant is a bad game and I shouldn't play it.

I do not think its possible because Valorant probably only accepts Windows secure boot keys. Steam deck already violates windows 11 spec for its low resolution screen. Valve will need to follow various Microsoft OEM rules to receive that key.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications

three-column layouts requires a screen that is 1920 effective pixels or greater in width.

The only way to play Valorant is to ask Valorant make an special exception for Valve and allow Valve distribute a specialty Valve signed key. However, you will piss of Microsoft.

Microsoft or Valorant holds the keys to this issue. Valve cannot do much.

The situation above is pretty normal in technology. Every technology company protects their own moat. They all fight against freedom. You want freedom as shown in your quote, but technology companies have vested interest to never give you exactly what you want.
