Steam Deck
Gamma Slider Required (Vibrant Deck Style)
With the death of Vibrant Deck to control gamma on version 3.5 and later, playing very bright games in bed (such as Digimon Cyber Sleuth with some nearly completely white maps and menus) is eye searingly bright even on the lowest brightness settings. The gamma setting in vibrant deck was a necessity for playing these games without pain in bed and I cannot be the only one that would like to see a basic gamma slider added to the deck.

Does the night mode toggle not work for you?
Hate it. It's still very bright but adds an ugly colour tint to the screen. Doesn't actually get any noticably darker which is what I'm after. Desktop mode has gamma controls but I can't seem to make it stick in gaming mode.
Gamma doesn't affect whites though..
I understand, however, Vibrant Deck's "gamma" feature somehow did, turning the entire screen brightness up and down. Colours, blacks and whites all went up or down. This is what I would like.
From your description, I think I know exactly what it was doing. Not gamma, but instead a black overlay over the entire screen with customizable opacity.. probably 50% to start.

I agree this would be a useful feature to have.
I doubt it's a black overlay but even something that simple would be better than nothing. It would get brighter as well if you turn it up past 100, and it could adjust each RGB value separately. Regardless, their code is open source on GitHub so it shouldn't be difficult to implement something similar.
