Stable 3.4 / Beta - 3.5 / Main 3.6
Please can we add an OS version number to the settings: stable, beta, main?

So I ended up installing an advanced preview becuase it was the only way I could force the bios to update to enable undervaluing... but how do I go back to os 3.5.

I'm on 3.6.
The options are stable, beta or main.

Neither lists what version os they will install so I'll post a suggestion on the forums for it to detail which version it will install for each heading

E.G

Stable - 3.4
Beta - 3.5
Main 3.6

Ace thanks

that would be helpful, although i wouldnt call the preview branch "main" since its highly experimental. stable should be main since its the release build

it should be:
Stable
Beta
Preview

The "main" branch name makes perfect sense for developers. And because it's only visible after enabling developer mode, it's perfectly fine.

No it doesn't. Calling it "main" sounds like it is the main branch and not a preview past the Beta.

It IS the main branch, where all developers work. That's why it is main. It's hidden from people who have no idea what it is for a reason...

It's a preview branch for development. It isn't the main branch.

I did.

It's still a preview branch for development. It's labeled appropriately for users because it's labeled based on what it is.

You don't release a beta build of something and tell people it's the 'main build' because it's the main one you are working on.

The build is for developers only. Every other user only gets three choices: stable, beta client, and beta client + beta OS. Those are labeled with users like you in mind. Extra branches like beta preview or main are only visible when the developer mode is enabled. Developers understand what "main" means, thus there is no issue.

Doesn't matter if it only shows when developer mode is enabled.

Enabling it is the matter of a simple switch and has been recommended multiple times to regular users on these forums for issues or features they may want. It needs to be named in the way any user would understand it.

The Deck is a average user device first, that's why the naming scheme makes sense the way it is.

Developers also understand what 'preview' means, thus there is no issue in keeping it the same.

Normal developer goes through this cycle.

Personal branch -> merge into main -> move to preview/dev/alpha -> beta -> release.

Main is a branch meant to be share with all other developers.

You assume I haven't turned them on to look into preview and beta builds.

You would be wrong.

it doesn't change the fact that you are complaining about things you don't understand. clearly the developer mode is not for you.

Uh huh.

I completely understand the backwards logic you're attempting. Doesn't make it right.

But please, keep trying to condescending comments.

Valve, please add also the "God mode" without any options at all, but thanks to it - mom's hax0rs and other loosers can switch to it, because it would sound ultimately much c0000ler rather then "default" or even "developers" mode
