https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/656725/how-to-passthrough-usb-mouse-to-virtualbox-vm
The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module
available for the current kernel (5.13.0-valve21-1-neptune-02209-g2a5bdc1102a0) or it failed to
load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by
sudo /sbin/vboxconfig
You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.
VMware also has its own problems.
Could not find all required packages:
libxcrypt-compat (Wanted by: vmware-workstation)
In any case, it's probably easier to experiment in a regular Linux PC than the Deck running SteamOS...
The other option here is to dual-boot windows which I've seen some people do but thats a whole separate layer of complexity. I'd prefer to just be able to boot the vm, make the changes, then shut it back down than reboot the whole deck to windows then back. But this is turning out to be harder than I expected to accomplish.
Gnome-Boxes boots and runs windows and I can redirect usb devices to it at will but not the mouse and keyboard. Thats where i'm stuck currently.
