Yeah alllowing more customization would be cool!
Eagerness to sell games most likely. Could also be for hype. Valve's "Home" screen is a bit uncommon for gaming platforms, but we are likely heading in that direction.
Your most recent games are shown first on the "Home Screen" which makes it a minor issue for a lot of folks. At least if you only use the Steam Deck. Spill over from the occasional PC game ruins the experience 100%. Limit the recently played "Home" screen to only the device itself, and it will be fine with me.
"Great on Deck" is an assumption as to what gamers would want to play because of the enjoyable experience. It saves browsing through "All Games" or "Collections".
"Installed" being so far down the list is a gripe if you frequently cycle through more games than are on the home screen. Or you play different games on different devices.
What are y'all doing on the other screens instead of clicking on your most recently played?
You can change it for ages on Steam PC.
They know you'll look at the store anyway!
Yes, please! The activity view is quite irrelevant most of the time.
Having said that, if the store can be the default screen on startup, and there can be an option for users to change it to library, that would still help drive sales in the 90+% of users that won't change the setting, but make life easier for those that will change it.
They have let us choosing what we want to boot to on the PC steam client.
And no, having library by default wouldn't kill the sales xD
i have the library screen on desktop (and steam deck desktop default) as my landing page and still check out the store when i need to.
