Yeah I started using that workaround too.
There are various commands that you can map to a key in the controller profile config 'system' tab like volume up, volume down, close game etc. It would be great if mic on and mic off and/or mic toggle be added here too. This way we could map to the controller as we please.
Having a toggle as well as a slider might be useful here too, where the toggle will mute/unmute but not actually change the mic level.
Similarly for output too TBH.
