Bind steam button to hardware keyboard
In the situation that my steam deck is docked with a mouse and keyboard I would like to be able to press a keyboard combo hotkey to be able to access the steam and … (3 dots) buttons. That way its eaier to play docked instead of having to get up to press them if inside a game where these keys are only accessible from the deck itself .

Yes, the deck really needs this when being used "docked"!

Yes, this would be nice. Being able to press the Windows button to open up the Steam Button menu, and more stuff being done to improve the keyboard and mouse support in game mode would be a nice thing to see.

Being able to use the scroll bar to navigate the games in the home menu (When the mouse is rolled over to that segment of the screen) would also be nice.

ctrl+1 & 2 opens the menus

Considering some games can have 1 and 2 binded to inputs at the same time as the Windows Button (Which is actually unused), that doesn't sound very wise.

Most US keyboards have a Win key and a Menu key, just make those be the Steam and '...' buttons respectively. (And allow us to change that via settings for those of us that don't have those keys.)

This is true however it is not available in game. we need a in game option.

+1 Yep, the Windows key on a physical keyboard should definitely open the Steam menu in-game and in game mode itself just like the Steam button on the deck. It's basically an essential keyboard function when using the deck docked.

That this was overlooked is a bit odd, there's a key that's always available for the Steam menu on physical keyboards in SteamOS, yet it goes unused and they mapped ctrl+1 which cannot be used in-game.

This is a big one as it makes using the Deck in K+M mode on the TV really annoying
I found a workaround by using an Xbox controller, which has the guide button (the xbox logo)set to be used as the steam key by default on the steamdeck. Only tested that in Bluetooth mode.

But I agree, gives us the option for a keyboard bind that defaults to win key or "...", would also use the default shift+tab I use on my desktop.

This still hasnt been fixed? Been pressing all possible combinations and not having much luck :/

The Windows key seems like a perfect solution, makes so much sense.

Kinda sucks you have to connect my controller just to access the steam button

+1 to this, it’s really frustrating to not be able to use the keyboard for everything.
All it needs is to be added to the controller settings controller layouts under “Buttons”, and then we could remap as we please.
