Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Back button when clicking a game ?
Why is the only button to go back to the game / collection menu only the b button to go back ? Or the steam button menu shouldn’t there be a little arrow button to let us go back to the menu Incase the other options don’t work and or freeze on us ? Seems kinda silly that there misssing a back button on the menu when you click a game just wondering is all / requesting a tiny feature quality of life feature I guess ?

I'm confused where the button is missing.
As all over the game mode menus it lists the buttons (steam) (select) (back) ect.

And since these indicators ((steam) and (back)) that show the button to press also act as their own buttons via touch, why add an arrow ?

We then file a bug report and use physical buttons
what if oh idk the button is broken lol
Then we go through warranty and/or fix the damaged hardware

But what happens when oh idk someone doesn’t have warranty anymore you gonna ask them to spend the 50$+ to get it fixed for one button instead of a back option in menu ?

Then they use touch screen?

If someone doesn't have warranty and breaks their device then yeah they will have to spend the money to fix it. Who wouldn't fix it? Gonna be annoying to play games with a bunch of buttons missing.

You know, there's a limit to how much redundancy you should build into a system. I mean, what if your suggested back button stops working too? Should there be a third button on the screen to click? How about a fourth? Fifth? Maybe we should start adding extra button combinations just on the off chance any one of the physical buttons go out.

If the screen button isn't working, and the physical button isn't working, there are other problems that need tending to. The software is clearly in an unintended state, and the hardware needs repairs. Adding extra buttons to the UI for this isn't the solution.
