Virtual Keyboard functionality (Ctrl, Alt, Fn keys, arrows)

The virtual keyboard is very limited, especially for using desktop mode. There are no up and down arrows for accessing the terminal history. There is no Ctrl key which has many uses in terminal and other desktop applications. There is no Alt key which is used to navigate menus in desktop applications. There is no way to use function keys like F1 or F5, which are useful in many desktop applications as well as many games. These keys can be mapped in games, but there are times in games when you just want to press a function key without remapping the controls. It would be great to have an advanced mode for the keyboard that has the functionality of a full keyboard.

And please add a controller button for Left/Right cursor. Would be much more natural to hit LB/RB to move the cursor left/right in case of a character mistake

I think a keyboard could look like this: https://i.xfix.pw/keyboard.png. This layout impacts the current layout as little as possible while adding the requested functionality - the only thing modified in top four rows is the right Shift key that was split to put Up arrow, which I think is fine because Shift was already the size of two keys, and there isn't really a need for a hint that it can be activated with L2 because that hint is still here for Left Shift.

Fn key here would provide a separate keyboard that provides access to keys that aren't on base keyboard, like F# keys, Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, numpad keys, PrtSrc, ScrLk, Pause, paste, and meta key. This functionality doesn't need to be shown all the time, but it should be available when necessary.

LOL I just got on to request an FN key. I was just trying to delete hotkeys in RetroArch and guess what key you need to do that! Delete!

FIVE months to add function keys to a virtual keyboard? Valve. I’m not saying you’re really screwing up but, wait… actually I’m saying you’re really screwing up. Considering most people who need to use the virtual keyboard likely need a real “keyboard” this lack of effort is a disgrace, especially considering the demand for the steam deck. Idk if you need better product managers but my guess is “absolutely you do.” You’ve had this request asked day in and day out of over FIVE months now 😩 what a waste of feedback. What a waste of sprints.

I had to search for an USB keyboard because the linux needed me to press combination ctrl + M. I absolutely abhor the idea of having a dedicated smiley key instead of control. If you really need it, then place it next to the control key. For the love of god add it.
