Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Easier date/time manual changing
There's quite a few games that reference your computer's clock either for in-game functions or just to seed rng. I don't think anybody would consider manually changing the clock to trigger an event or manipulate that rng to be "cheating", and indeed some games even prompt you to do this kind of tweaking.

As far as I know, the only way to do this on the Steam Deck currently, is from Desktop mode. It would be really nice if the settings menu could enable this from within the Steam overlay, and even while playing a game. Changing the timezone already seems possible, but this isn't exactly the same thing, and it's not clear if that even actually changes the system clock or just changes how the Steam overlay displays it.

The system clock should be synced with online servers using the timezone when you connect to the internet. no need to manually set the time and date. but you can in desktop mode if you really need to.
Since steam needs you to be online to at least login to begin with, it would set the clock as needed automatically.

Adding this to game mode settings seems okay but
The only thing adding this to steam overlay would do is promote event triggering or cheating for some game that use time to calculate idle functions

Yes, that is the point.

Have you ever tried to 100% FEZ? Do you know how annoying it is to 100% FEZ? I've done it multiple times on the Vita. I need to use RunAsDate to play it on PC.

Time traveling has been a thing in games since the original Animal Crossing. It is marginally considered cheating but who cares? We all do it anyway, so it should be a supported feature.

Literally found this because I’m wanting to 100% Fez… I’m literally going to have to leave the game on aren’t I for 2 days and carry my deck around just to get this damn clock to hit 12. 😩
