Trackpad 'As Joystick' Emulation for the -left- Joystick
Currently there are two options to emulate a joystick on the trackpad: 'joystick' which just maps distance from center to tilt of the joystick, and 'as joystick' which maps how a trackpad and joystick achieve the same motion. the 'joystick' option lets you specify the joystick you want to emulate, but there's no such freedom for the 'as joystick' option. So far it can ONLY do the right joystick. Now, I realize it probably has something to do with actually using the mouse under the hood but there are games that, for whatever reason, loves to use the left joystick to control a cursor (asscreeds, blank sims, etc) and it would help immensely to have the precision of the trackpads without having to switch over to wsad and setting up the controller map or figuring out how to block steam input entirely like it seems some games need.

If there could be any possible way that this could be implemented that would be aces

They really need to standardize the options across all input types and all the output modes wherever possible, even when they might not manage to come up with an use case themselves. It's frustrating to waste time looking for a setting you remember seeing only to realize it's only present on another similar input/mode....

Second this.

I would also like to see this added.

Resident Evil 4 (2005) uses the left stick to aim, and having an emulated mouse for the left trackpad sent as a left stick would help immensely.

Using the "Joystick" input isn't the same. It emulates the joystick on the trackpad, which gives it a deadzone and acceleration curves that's not as precise as a mouse.

I found this post as I was trying to do this exact thing (use gyro for "as joystick" for the LEFT joystick), was dissapointed that it's not a feature, but then I just saw this!!

So I'm switching to the beta channel right now, looks like Valve is finally adding this feature

The link above said "Gyro As Joystick can now optionally output to Left Joystick" but I just checked, the same option is available for trackpads! It works!!!

Yep! Finally the option is available after asking for it for all these years. It actually only happened because I asked a dev in a Discord server I'm in about it lol. I even linked this thread.
