OS-controlled fan curve on Windows
Would be very grateful if someone from Valve could provide drivers for Windows users so that we can adjust the fan curve.

When the latest SteamOS fan curve comes into the stable branch it would already be awesome to have that on Windows 11 as it is much more quiet.

Can't you use existing fan controlling software already?

Sadly no software so far could detect the fan at all, only read the temperatures of the apu/ssd - tried FanControl, HWiNFO etc. .

I think without any driver from Valve there is no way to adjust it.

Yes, we truly need that, please Valve…

My steam deck is overheating now and steam support is not helping. I have windows 11 as well. I will have to apply liquid metal because we can't customize the fan curve and the paste can't do the job with windows settings.

what? the default fan curve is more aggressive than the curve used in SteamOS. also, is it actually overheating or are you just thinking that it's overheating?

check this thread:
GUI tools for monitoring and managing clock/voltage/temp/fans on Linux

it's for linux but there is a slight chance one of those opensource tools is crossplatform

also if you're suspecting hardware, you should try the default OS (SteamOS 3) too to rule out windows-specific issues, then those might help view and tweak fan speeds and temps

i found in power setting in Power Options you can find the AMD Power Slider /Overlay/ On battery I set it to Better Battery and Plugged In i set it to Better Performance. It seems to have tamed down the fan during idle and when charging. Still testing. let me know if this helps
