Easy scroll on desktop mode.
I’m unsure if anyone mentioned this already in the forum but I haven’t been able to find a way to scroll through webpages easily. So far on desktop mode I have been grabbing the scroll bar with the mouse and scrolling using that method. I have not been able to find a way to scroll without doing this. (Please tell me if there is a way in the reply’s).

I suggest having a shortcut function which changes the touch pad from mouse mode to scroll mode. Perhaps the shortcut for this could be the R1 button. To use the function the user holds R1 and the can scroll the webpage using the touch pad. When the user lets go of R1 it goes back to mouse mode. Perhaps even make it so taping R1 functions as middle mouse click.

Not sure how it works on the Deck but on the Steam Controller, the left touchpad defaults to a scroll wheel if you spin your finger on it.

Open Steam settings, and under settings you can modify the desktop inputs. I couldn't get a decent scroll wheel to work, so instead I added the browser as non-steam game and then selected the web browser input template. Then open the browser like its a game, all the inputs work great, including the virtual keyboard (Steam + X)

So you literally can't just take your finger to the browser on the touchscreen and scroll down like on phones on the Steam Deck? That seems like a massive oversight on Valve's part with SteamOS...

Yeah it doesn’t seem to work that way on steam deck. Left pad is just for left clicking like a mouse left click.

I’ll look into that. But still seems like a lot of hassle for this small a feature.

Yeah it doesn’t work that way on steam deck. You need to touch the scroll bar. (Assuming you don’t do stuff to modify it’s layout somehow)

Steam Big Picture on the desktop client on Windows seems to have a built-in browser. SteamOS doesn't have anything like this? Just curious that it seems you have to instead add a browser as a non-Steam game to Steam Deck when everywhere else Big Picture already had a browser built in.

In my experience when you enter desktop mode you can see the fire fox browser and it can be used but you can’t see it when in the other mode (the mode which just displays your games) I had to go through some settings and add it as a non steam game for it to show on this other mode

I’d love to have an easier scroll feature too. That store the desktop mode comes with loads every item at once, making the scroll bar extremely sensitive.

My deck has scrolling on the left trackpad by default...

I did change it because I prefer the scroll wheel over the vertical scroll, but it was enabled already from day one.

someone implied touchscreen doesn't scroll.... this is incorrect. It works great

Better out of box scroll input mapping would be nice. Touch screen, dpad, joysticks, any would do fine.
