If I forget all controllers from the bluetooth menu and then pair my left joycon first and then my right, the steam deck instantly shuts off and reboots.
However, if I pair the problematic right joycon FIRST instead, something interesting happens - a single joycon (r) is paired and visible in the bluetooth menu but TWO entries for joycon(r)s show up in the controller menu. Both seem fully, and simultaneously, functional and can have different settings from one another.
After doing the above, pairing my left joycon second causes the L/R to merge into a single joycon L/R, but one extra stranded Joycon(R) remains and continues causing weird duplicate inputs because it's being treated as an upright and sideways joycon simultaneously.
My guess is that the crash from pairing the (R) after the (L) is caused by the duplicate entry; perhaps it's trying to merge both of them with the (L) simultaneously? Who knows. Anyway, this is the behaviour I've observed.
