Steam Deck

Steam Deck

When using Remote Play, Volume Down key seems to be bound to the "B" key on the keyboard.
I think I've found a really obscure bug that no one else seems to have (expect 1 person).
(TL;DR When Streaming games from my PC to the Steam Deck with Remote Play, pressing the "- Volume down" button seems to register as pressing the "B" key.)

I tried to contact Steam Support but they were not able to help me, and suggested to post in the forums here.

I've recently updated to a 5Ghz Wi-Fi. I have to say it works surprisingly well and the latency is barely noticeable.

I was playing The Last of Us 1. The volume was too loud so I went to turn it down pressing the button on the Steam Deck. And for some reason the volume down key seems to be bound to the "B" key on a keyboard. (Joel proceeded to open his backpack, which is mapped to the B key in the game)
I tried other games like Apex and Fall Guys and the same thing happens.

This seems to happen with all games when using Remote play to stream them from my PC to my Steam Deck.

It doesn't have to do anything with the controller layout. You can't even map the volume keys, so it's even stranger that this is happening.
I've reseted the layouts to the default ones but the issue still seems to persist.

The thing is, the volume DOES go down, but it also registers as pressing "B" at the same time.

I actually found a post from a user who had the same problem as me: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1675200/discussions/1/3821912152394634430/

I think I don't have the Volume up bug, but this user has the exact same issue when pressing the Volume down button.

The user says they solved the issue by running Steam on the host system NOT as an administrator. But as far as I'm aware, I'm not running Steam in admin, it's running normally.

Sorry if I didn't explain myself very well. Feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks in advance.

Hey I'm having the exactly same issue. In Metaphor Re Fantazio it shows the message log which is Keyboard "B" key press.
For now, I'm removing the B keyboard key press in the game control configuration, and mapping that command (show message logs) to another key (in my case, "Z" key).

It didn't happen to other games, but that because coincidentally they don't have any action mapped to keyboard "B" key, so I didn't notice it.

Hey, seen your other messages too.

I didn't end up finding any solution to this issue sadly :/

What I suggest to do is installing Sunshine on your PC and downloading Moonlight from the Discover store.

It may be a bit hard, but this video explains all the process pretty well: https://youtu.be/LbR45kWx2QU

I also recommend installing Decky and SteamGridDB so you can change the app's artwork.

With Moonlight, this Volume Down = "B" issue seems to be completely gone; so I'm guessing it has something to do with Steam itself and not our Steam Decks or PCs

You are also able to stream any game, even outside Steam.

Hopefully Valve fixes this issue in the future.
