Popup keyboard issues

In a couple of games (stardeus and football, tactics and glory),
To enter text the keyboard pops up, I type my text, i click submit, the keyboard goes away and I try to click submit again but the dialogue box won't close or allow me back into the game.
The only option i have found is to hold ctrl, alt, f4 then wait for login to appear and hit ctrl, alt, del.
With stardeus I can wait for a background quicksave before doing this and not lose any progress and it is only occasional.
with football tactics and glory I can not get past attempting to enter my name on the new game screen rendering the game completely unplayable.

I use the steamdeck docked with display to TV and a plug in usb mouse and keyboard.

This only occurs with proton experimental.
