Bluetooth headset constantly disconnecting
Hello, I paired my Bluetooth headset to the Steam Deck. No problem with that but after around 10 mins the headset disconnects. Sometimes the connection lasts a bit longer but it always happens at some point.
This BT headset works perfectly with my phone, so i guess the headset is not the problem.

SteamOS: 3.3.2
BT Headset: OnePlus Wireless Bullets 2

I've been having the same issue. My headset will disconnect after a few seconds in game and my controller sporadically disconnects every ten to fifteen seconds.

I'm having the same issue with my earbuds. As soon as I pair them they cycle between connected and disconnected.

unfortunately it doesn't look like it has been fixed. In my testing the steam deck could handle a controller or a headset but couldn't handle both connected at the same time for any amount of time. One or the other would drop out regardless of what I tried.

Unfortunately there is still no fix for this issue on SteamOS 3.4.6 (Build 20230313.1). I tried a different BT headset (Sony Linkbuds S) and they work better. I experienced no disconnects with these and the Steam Deck yet.

I'm very happy with my Steam Deck but the Bluetooth part has definitly room for improvement.

i have the same exact problem with my steam deck, i connect my headphones and start playing a game and then after about 10 minutes or so my headphones disconnect then a few seconds later reconnect by themselves and it just becomes a cycle.

I was playing steam deck this headphone jack was working, while I was playing game paused and put the deck asleep. When woke it up, my headset stopped working, tried everything audio setting. Ever sound is coming out deck speaker. Funny thing my headphones work on my switch and PS5 I have right audio setting. I am getting feeling the recent update must be bugged. I would love to have head jack to work again, did restart, shut down, and log off steam. This was at 6 this morning. Unfortunately it is still not working when mess in auto setting screen will flicker off and on for a couple seconds not all time does this when messing with audio settings. Also sound can completely cut off from the main steam deck speakers while dealing with audio setting no sound from headphones or speakers. Sad it was bought a couple months ago.
😟

Anyone know if there's a fix for this yet? I'm sick of my headset cutting out mid-game, and this is apparently an issue going back over a year. I'm even going the extra mile and playing with a wired controller connection and still getting random headset disconnects.

Is this the right place to report these issues?
Given the name of this subforum, one would think so.
However, in almost 1.5 years, no one from Valve even acknowledged the issue.
And the problem still exists, of course.

So maybe the issue has been reported elsewhere and we could keep following the progress there?

Hey I just bought a steamdeck and found this looking to report that my Bluetooth keyboard disconnects after 2 seconds.. and won’t always reconnect.

Come on Valve.. what gives??

Trying to play with a pair of JBL Tune520s but they seem to reconnect without sound after approximately 30s, this goes for desktop mode too. The fact that this seems to not be a one-off problem with my personal deck infuriates me.

If anyone eventually finds a fix to this, please do share this valuable information to me, and others finding this bug report.

My issue is only one of the Bluetooth headphones will connect at a time. They’ll alternate, but never both at once.

Same issue. Still no fix. Ridiculous.

My Logitech keyboard and mouse are now having this issue. It mostly happens with my keyboard. They will be totally fine for a while and then suddenly drop. When attempting to reconnect they flicker back-and-forth between connected and disconnected state. If I forget device and re-pair it seems to fix it for an indeterminate length of time. Could be a few minutes. Could be for several hours. Seems to happen both in gaming and desktop mode.
January 2025, issue apparently still exists because I came here looking to see if anyone else was having the issue. Brand new deck purchased this month. Using Samsung Buds2 Pro with bluetooth and keep losing connection. You can't reconnect from the QAM either, you have to open the full settings menu and reconnect from there. The QAM you can click to try to reconnect, but nothing happens. From the regular settings menu it connects just fine. No other bluetooth items are connected to the deck, so it just doesn't like to keep bluetooth alive for some reason.

There was one time where it reconnected on its own after 10 to 15 seconds, but most often I have to initiate reconnection.
