Steam Deck
Nintendo Switch Pro controller frequently disconnects
The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller disconnects from the Deck all the time, which makes it impossible to use it for some games. This is a known issue for some time now and some people report that the problem was somewhat fixed after turning off the rumble (this doesn't seem to be a universal fix, however).

Has Valve ever responded to this issue? If it's a hardware and compatibility with the controller, it would be nice to know so we can move on and find another solution.

As far as I can tell it's not intermittent. IF you connect an official switch pro controller via Bluetooth THEN you will have commitment connection issues. If you try multiplayer, God have mercy on your soul because it's much worse.

Not to my knowledge. I tried to check my support response from June or so to recall what Valve told me but it seems they purge your support history pretty quickly. “Recent support” is empty via the Steam iOS app.

My memory is that they asked for a bunch of details, some testing on my part, but after all of that they just explained the issue away as not something that they could diagnose or take responsibility for, to try other controllers.

And to check the forums.
So here I am.
By now, I'm sure they know about this issue. It's not edge case or intermittent.
May not even be something they can completely fix. I think other PCs and systems have trouble with Bluetooth connection from a switch pro controller. That's anecdotal though and I'm not entirely sure.

What I'm sure about is its performance on the Steam deck, at least the LCD model.
But if Valve hasn't responded to all of these over a year, I'm not holding my breath that they ever will
i have been able to use the switch pro controller for a long gaming session without disconnecting so far. Maybe the issue is fixed with the Dec 11 stable update?
No, problem still persists for me, at least when using two pro controllers.
Can we get an actual fix for this please?! This has been a problem since I bought my original pre-order LCD model 2 years ago, Still a problem today with a 1TB OLED LE model :(

It’s unbelievable this issue still exists. All Nintendo Pro Controller owners complain about the same thing everywhere. It’s so disrespectful that Steam keeps ignoring it.
+1 I also see this issue

I am not sure what you mean. Most consoles would never support third party hardware because they introduce strange behaviors. igalia found a divide by zero in the Nintendo Joy Con driver. Valve did pay igalia to help research and debug these issues.

Many controllers are committed by the good will from Red Hat and many independent contributors. Red Hat is an enterprise distro.

Fix- forget all disconnected controllers and ensure that the pro controller is the only active controller. Been playing for several hours after doing this with zero issues.
Has anyone solved this issue yet? I commented earlier about this and there still hasn't been a fix from Valve. Sometimes the controllers are wonky and other times they do work, but once I enter a game they stop working.

Also, I found out that if I connect both the left and right joy-cons to my Steam deck, it will crash the device and would need to be rebooted, which is concerning and needs a fix ASAP.

Joy cons fix hit the preview channels a while ago. After you update to the preview channel, forget your joy con devices with bluetoothctl.
bluetoothctl devices

bluetoothctl remove XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

re pair the device.

VALVe pls, help us.😥
Can confirm behavior is the same with the OLED version of the Steam Deck.

Use cases with the official steam dock sitting about 10 ft away on a couch

Controller randomly disconnects and reconnects. The player number indicator on the controller seems to increase during each disconnect and reconnect. Sometimes it goes back to the one it was on before.

Can confirm this also happens with the 8-bitdob ultimate Bluetooth pro controller when in switch mode.

Is this just a problem with switch mode connecting to anything other than a switch? I mean the same stuff happens on a PC when connecting my switch style controllers.
