Nintendo Switch Pro controller frequently disconnects
The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller disconnects from the Deck all the time, which makes it impossible to use it for some games. This is a known issue for some time now and some people report that the problem was somewhat fixed after turning off the rumble (this doesn't seem to be a universal fix, however).

Possible cause of the problem:

Same problem. Frequent disconnects, multiple games. Will try rumble disable.

Edit: Disabling rumble worked for me!

My issues are the frequent disconnects and even when it stays connected, it has huge lag/terrible response time, i.e. pressing the thumbstick forward = at least 500ms between the action and my character moving on the screen. Same goes for all buttons on the controller.

It's literally impossible to use a Pro Controller for me.

I switched to using my Series X controller. The lag is negligible, however it has the exact same connectivity issues. It sometimes stays connected for a few hours, but most often just sporadically disconnects a few times in less than 10 minutes.

I gave up and resorted to using a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard which isn't ideal on a couch with no sturdy surface.

Kinda defeats the purpose of a dock for most folks I'd say. (keyword: "most" as I realize some folks probably have one to use it like a computer at their desk)
+1 same issue. I'll try disabling rumble next, but what's the point of the dock if I can't use all the features of a controller?

Agreed!

Also I tried disabling not only rumble but haptics of any sort, and made sure it was turned off in-game and my controller still disconnected constantly. I had to resort to using a cord.
+1 for dev visibility. Disconnects are frequent with the switch pro controller, often in sections with a lot of rumble unless turned off. This has to be done in both the steam menu and the game settings.

Disabling haptics worked for me. Then I had to install a new OS and now it doesn't work unfortunately. Still an issue in 2023.
My xbox series s controller disconnects randomly every few minutes. What's interesting is that it happens more often when two controllers are connected. It doesn't even have to be in the game, the situation happens when in desktop mode even without touching the steam deck, controllers disconnect randomly. Disabling rumble/haptics didn't work for me:(
+1 still an issue currently

Super annoying
+1, I'm having this issue also. Feb 2023
Keeps disconnecting very frequently, even after turning off rumble.
Same issue here :(. Even after turning off rumble
+1 Also have this issue with official Switch pro-controller. No issue with 8bitdo SN30 pro + when it is on Windows mode. But when I connect it as a Switch controller. It disconnects as well like the real pro-controller.
Getting this with my switch controller also. Keeps connecting as player 1 then 2 and give versa every couple minutes. Steam deck is on stable release.
