Sony bravia tv and steamdeck dock
Hello getting the offficial steamdeck dock connected to a sony bravia tv is quite the hassle because the screen stays black. The work around is to disconnect the power supply and reconnect the hdmi cable and then replug the usb c charger. So my guess its related to the usb c power brick somehow or a connectivity issue that needs a patch.

So hopefully you guys can update the firmware of the dock and deck to make it connect better with sony bravia tvs mine is a 2021 lcd 65 inch model. I saw on reddit multiple ppl had this issue aswell with third party docks if that info helps.

I'm just really glad that I'm the only person on the internet who the "unplug the power cable" thing didn't work. TV (Sony A80J) says there's no connection, but shows something plugged into HDMI 4 when looking at the settings. I have tried every combination of "unplug, replug, turn off, reboot. This is an $80 piece of trash (the other word). Valve, if you need help with QC, I'm available. I would have told you guys to keep working on this.

Same issue here. It just happen this afternoon when i trid to replug-in my steam deck to tv. I tried to disconnect and connect my usb-c and hdmi but not working. I reset the steam os system and tried to connect to dp monitor but not working as well...

I just did my test with TV and computer sequentially using different docks. I am pretty sure the third part dock and monitor are working. First I connect my steam deck + dock with TV and can not play on my Sony Bravia TV. Then I used Dell dock and I can not play on the computer screen as well. However, my network fiber + mouse and keyboard, which are connected to Dell dock, works well on my steam deck screen. Therefore the problem lies in two parts, one for the steam deck screen handshaking. And the other is steam dock getting some problem as well.

Found a workaround. Connect to all the devices. Shut down the steam deck (not restart). Then turn on the steam deck and everything goes back to normal. Steam should fix this since I have seen so many threads about it.
Still same problem...

I got mine to work finally. The steps above work. Shutdown completely, unplug power supply that was provided with the dock.... Powered on steam deck and it turned on.

Power bugs are notoriously difficult for anyone debug and reproduce. I have a habit of reporting them as quick as I can and then wait month to years before a random dev who can fix shows up.

Add me to the list, I can connect my Steam Dock/Deck to any number of computer monitors, but connecting to Sony Bravia TV is works only about 1% of the time and doesn't seem to work at all post latest firmware update. Pretty darn frustrating. Have played around with multiple settings and all the plugging and unplugging and powering down and rebooting suggestions others have talked about, but no joy. The Bravia connects just fine to Playstation and XBox. C'mon Valve!

Also wish it had better handling when it wakes up while connected to a TV, although mine isn't a Sony. I have to undock or re-insert HDMI for the output to work again. My Switch doesn't appear to have this issue.

Thanks for making this thread. The workaround was successful for my Sony bravia xr55x90k.

Same issue with a Toshiba TV. However, with a normal monitor connected, it works without needing to unplug USB-C power and plugging again.

I solved this issue on my Sony Bravia A95. In the TV settings, I went to Channels & Inputs > External Inputs > External Device Setup. Then I chose "optimize for PC". Using the game console option didn't work.
