Deck Won't Switch Accounts

After the most recent update, our deck will no longer switch profiles. When we go to the current profile and select switch profiles, after confirming, the Deck starts to shut down and then freezes. We then have to hard shut down and then select the profile.

After I opened a ticket with Steam, they suggested I took back the update. When I did this, the same issue recurred, so it seems like the issue isn't with the update itself.

Any help is welcome.

I am getting the exact same issue. I try to switch accounts then the deck freezes. Only holding power button to do a hard reset works once it freezes.

Same for me! It's happening on my OLED model. Haven't tested the other one.

Again. This is the main reason my deck rarely gets used... I can't count on it working again after a ♥♥♥♥-update from Valve... I swear, it seems they can't release anything without a bunch of breakage...

same issue main of the time ... but sometimes, it works (I have 5 accounts). How did you create the ticket ?

Exact same issue here, OLED model. When switching to or from mine or my wife's account, it freezes and only a hard reset fixes it. I was on the Beta build - I tried switching back to stable but not luck.

This only started maybe a week or so ago for us?

This still happens on latest beta as of today (4/20/25) - I have to restart the Deck to switch between my account and my son's child account :/

I am also having this issue. I’m nervous doing all these hard resets will have a negative impact on the system.

Same issue for me.
When I switch Steam account the Steam "turning" logo freeze. Sometimes the Deck reboot and I can select the Steam account another I'm stuck on the logo and need to force a reboot with power button.

Same issue on two Decks. One was a launch model so I tried a factory reset but no luck.
