Unable to delete big games
I installed warhammer: vermintide 2 to test out if it ran on the deck and it didnt so i try to uninstall it. After trying it 8n gaming mode and desktop mode, the only thing the deck would do is show the uninstall window and do nothing else, so i tried uninstalling vermintide by using shift+del in the file browser in desktopmode, it removed the file, but when i look in the storage tab in the steam deck it still shows as installed, and i dont actually know if it fully uninstalled or not

did you try asking steam to remove it after deleting the files? it might behave better now to finish eliminating the entry after the files are already gone

i eventually fixed it, i dont know what exactly fixed it but here's what i did beforehand:
1. shift+del on the warhammer file
2. created an empty file with the name Warhammer: Vermintide 2
3. steam still showed that this folder takes up 100 gigs, but still wasn't able to delete the file
4. i looked up trash in the bottom left of desktop mode
5. expanded the trash size to 100+ gigs
6. tried to delete warhammer again through steam
7. the loading window for uninstalling still didn't go away, so I closed steam through the system monitor application
8. when I restarted steam (the application, not the deck) warhammer was deleted

Thank you! I used step 5 to increase the file size of the trash size to 100+ gigs and was able to uninstall the game through Steam.

Is their a way of making the trash work from the SD card? I've upped the trash limit but as I've only got the 64gb deck it only lets me up it to 46gb not the 100+ mentioned above so still not enough to delete vermintide 2

on the files manager you might be able to permanently delete the file without sending it to the trash by pressing shift+del on that game folder (it works on Nemo, the default files manager on Linux Mint)...

you can remove the largest files manually then run steam and ask it to uninstall the game "the right way" to ensure nothing is left behind in steam databases, but usually it's not necessary

obviously Valve should give the user the option to delete without sending to trash instead of preventing deletion... this is a deadlock dituation waiting to happen :steamfacepalm:
