Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Games take a long time to start after turning on the Deck
Just updated to the latest version.
Every time i turn on the Deck i wait for all updates to finish and then when i try to open a game it just sits there saying "Starting launch".. I can close it and try other games and it will do the same thing. I'll have to wait 1 to 2 minutes for it to start working fine.
It's like the Deck is doing something in the background but there's no notification for it.
If i start the Deck in offline mode the games open just fine and instantly.
Didn't have this problem before the update.
EDIT: this even affects non steam games like minecraft or emulators

EDIT2: user ZERO_00 found a workaround. Enable wpa supplicant in the dev options. Scroll down to read his comment.
Also, enabling the option "Enable WiFi debug data collection" is enough to fix it, but since we don't know how big the debug data will be, it's best to keep it off and just change to wpa supplicant.

Yes I have the exactly same issue after updating to latest version, have to go offline or disable net work to quick start game after restart machine, Interesting thing is, after successfully start a game, the rest games came be started normally no matter on line status.

Yep, after waiting for that 1-2 minute period where games don't start, they all start behaving normally again. I removed decky whick is the only mod I have but made no difference.

Another thing i noticed that it's different.
Before, when you turned on the deck, the avatar on the top right corner would get the blue online stipe and the custom frame pretty quickly. Now it takes more than 15 seconds for those things to appear.

I have no issue of avatar though. I have tried remove the decky loader and clean up the old proton file, tired turn off cloud saving also but still no luck.

That's weird because we have internet. The deck connects fine to wifi and we are able to browse the steam store, see online friends, etc.
Gonna test it myself.

That's weird because we have internet. The deck connects fine to wifi and we are able to browse the steam store, do speedtests, etc.
Gonna test it myself.

Just noticed that enabling the option "Enable WiFi debug data collection" is enough to fix the wifi. No need to change to wpa supplicant or mess with power saving features. That's very strange.
I'm not sure how big will be the debug data so it's best to keep it turned off
