Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Unable to log in to network
Been having trouble trying to connect to the internet while out and about. One of my frequented networks that usually requires an additional step to log in isn't working.

I would usually attempt to log in, it would process then open up a browser based verification site straight to the networks login button. Just a simple tap on the button and that would be that.

To be clear, it worked fine only last week ... The login procedure still works for my other devices (Mobile & laptop) so there's no fault with the network itself.

Now whenever I try, all I get on the Steam Deck is a black screen in place of the log in screen with a single line of code at the top of the screen:

Log in to the network

data:text:/html,%3Cbody%3E%3C%2Fbody%3E

And the usual steam UI 'Close' button.

I tried blindly taping around on the blank screen where I know the log in button would usually be; I tried restarting and reloading, same thing; I also tried using some alternate networks but came up with the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Same issue here, the web page just never loads/freezes.

Yep, for me any captive portal completely freezes the machine. Have to hard reboot using the power button

Same. Any updates?

I have the same issue. The only working solution is to go onto Desktop Mode and log-in to the Wi-Fi from there.

Same, and as for philosoraptor, the only solution is to go to desktop mode and login there.

Same here, both before and after the May 24th update. Thanks for breaking a vital part of accessing cloud saves r

Same issue here also, really annoying but as philosoraptor said, you can login in desktop mode and switch back to gaming mode until they fix this problem

Encountered the same error, desktop mode doesn't seem to help either.

Thanks for the tip, I appreciate the help.

This workaround seems to be working for me, just hopeful they fix the underlying issue as going through Desktop mode is a bit of a nuisance.
