3.6 Preview Update Speaker/Audio Loss Bug On Steam Deck OLED (Partial Fix)
Hi there,

I updated to the 3.6 Preview Update on my Steam Deck OLED. Everything seems to be running well. However, the speakers have seemed to have stopped working. I checked my audio settings just to make sure the application I used wasn't muted. The only two playback devices appearing in the desktop mode audio settings are "Filter Chain Sink" and "Virtual Sink". There are two inactive cards in the Inactive Cards section. "Rembrandt Radeon High Definition Audio Controller" and "ACP/ACP3X/ACP6x Audio Coprocessor" are turned off.

I did find a partial workaround for this, but there seems to be a default setting that the Deck falls back to eventually as I did have the speakers working at one point and then they stopped after I docked the Deck once more. Regardless the workaround I have is somewhat finicky. In the Audio settings, you can see the two Inactive Cards. For both of them, you can change the profile from Off to Pro Audio, but nothing changes. However, for the ACP/ACP3X/ACP6x Audio Coprocessor card, I noticed a third profile appear called SOF Vangogh. Switching to that profile brings the audio back, but that profile isn't always there and I am unsure what causes it to appear. Likely some combination of restarting with the Deck docked or undocked and possibly if a pair of headphones are plugged in. I'm not really sure.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy because this was the only post I found that showed the same profiles I was seeing. Really appreciate it!

Having the same issue myself. I don't know how I did it but I managed to make it work when it happened. Now I'm a bit traumatized since I don't remember how I fixed it. I fear that if I dock it again it will happen.

Thanks for posting your solution. The other solutions I’d found online had me spinning my wheels driving me mad. Hopefully they’ll resolve the issue with a permanent solution soon. Cheers :)
