Unable to save controller template for non steam game

I've been waiting very patiently for this bug to get fixed now and I'm beginning to wonder if the devs are even aware of its existence.

For months now, I've been unable to save a controller template for non steam games. I can save a personal save, but if I try to save a template, nothing happens.

1. Make some changes to your controller layout
2. Export it as a personal save.
3. Give it a name. Save it. Notice it works?
4. Export it as a template.
5. Click on save new layout.
5. No prompt appears for giving it a name. It doesn't work.

This is a big problem because if I have an bunch of Roms and I want to have a template for those Roms, I have to create a new controller layout from scratch because it's simply not possible to save a template right now.

Can we please get a fix for this? Saving controller layouts on the steam deck has been a big nightmare since the Steam Deck's release and it would be nice if this feature just worked without issues once and for all. Please begin paying more attention to this feature because it seems to always be loaded with issues.

Input layout editor is broken, it gaslights you, youll go nuts if you try and do anything cool with it. Complain to valve, add your voice to the chorus.
