Had been using Preview due to a bug Valve has fixed that hasn't been added to Stable yet: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/10429
It is not working from:
- Windows -> Deck
- Linux -> Deck
However it is working from (I only use this for configuration, not to play):
- Deck -> Windows
- Deck -> Linux
I tried applications, Steam Games and Non-Steam games.
None work, all stay on the loading screen.
I can move the mouse on the host machine and see the mouse moving on Deck.
I can also hear the sound on the Deck, but button presses are not sent to the host machine.
Pressing "B" ends the stream.
Edit: Remote Play works correctly in Desktop Mode. However when you try to end the session via Steam+Left Dpad (escape), you cannot tap on "Stop Streaming". You must use Steam+R Trackpad to move the mouse cursor over to "Stop Streaming" and click it via R2. Hope this helps someone.
I think there are enough people here to catch a developer's eye.
I also just found out about Valve's github page, so I will be moving the discussion over there and creating a bug report. I will post a link here to the github issue, but I won't be online for a bit so I'll do this maybe tomorrow.
Happy gaming everyone!
Same issue here. Windows PC -> Deck. Audio and controls available on Deck but instead of the video stream I get a Steam loading spinner logo.
A day before I had this exact same issue on Arch(btw) -> Deck. Which was the reason I installed Windows…
Tried everything vom dis/enabling nvfbc capture and hardware de/encoding, resolution and so on. Nothing helped. Hardware is roughly speaking AMD CPU and NVIDIA RTX GPU, if that matters
Have you tried Remote Play while in Desktop Mode on your deck? If so, how did it go?
