Steam Deck
PS5 controller mic not working
When I have my Steam Deck docked with a PS5 controller connected I'd like to be able to use the Mic on the controller. When paired via BT, it is expected that the Mic would not and should not work. However, when connected via a USB-A to USB-C connector I do expect the Mic to work. If you connect the PS5 controller via USB to the dock, then check the Audio settings the PS5 mic is not detected. If I switch the Steam Deck to Desktop mode and check the Audio settings, you can see that there is PS5 audio detected, and switching to that for input, the mic audio still isn't picked up. When I use the PS5 controller via USB on my Ubuntu PC the PS5 controller mic is always automatically detected and switching to the PS5 mic works great. It always has. Would be great to have great mic support from the PS5 controller for co-op game play.

I made a report recently saying DualSense audio is not detected when docked via USB cable. Also all audio is lost with no option to natively change the source. DualSense must be connected thru Bluetooth for audio to work, mic excluded. Side note, the mute button takes screenshots🤷‍♂️
The mute button definitely takes screenshots.
I have an update. I switched to the beta branch on my Steam Deck. Not sure if this had an affect. But, When I connect my ps5 controller to my usb cable. the mic is now auto detected. If I join a chat channel and start voice chat, I don't get mic. The visual mic input indicator on my avatar stays empty. If I unplug and replug the usb cable while in the channel, then start voice chat, I get mic input. You can see the mic input indicator on my avatar fill and empty with my speech. So the mic works with a little finagling. If I plug in a wired headset mini jack into the PS5, the mic works there too. However, the audio doesn't come through the headset. The audio stays on the TV. Manually changing the audio output through the Steam Deck audio menu from default to PS5 audio doesn't help. Still no audio through headset. Just mic input from the headset.
So wait the mic won’t work on the ps5 controller through Bluetooth? I wanna use the mic on the controller for chat in 76 while mine is docked to the tv?
This is correct. You need to plug it in via USB cable for the mic to work. When a PS5 or XBox controller connects to their native system they connect via 2.4GHz and then the mic is available during wireless communication. That's how I understand it. For me I just bought a long USB cable from GameStop.
