Steam Deck OLED not recognizing Soundcore P`10 headset dongle
I have a set of 2.4GHz true wireless earbuds that have a USB C dongle.

I had been using these headphones with my LCD Steam Deck for months without any issues. I would just plug the dongle into the deck, put the headphones in and it would play a connections noise and shortly after the game sound would come through.

Since I've gotten my OLED it seems like the Deck does not want to use the headphones as an audio device. When I plug the dongle in to the Deck the light on the dongle comes on, when I put the headphones in I get the connections chime followed by silence. The device does not show in the audio settings either.

Since the dongle has USB C power pass-through I thought I'd see if that would work. If I plug the dongle in Deck and then plug power into the dongle I get the same behavior as above. If I plug power into the dongle first, then plug the dongle into the Deck it work! However this means that the Steam Deck is no longer a good on the go device if you always have to have a battery pack connected.

I can also get the headphones to work by restarting the Steam Deck with the dongle plugged in, but it only works for as long as the dongle is still connected. Once I unplug the dongle it no longer works by just plugging it in. I would have to restart the Deck again to get them to work again.

This behavior is present whether I am in game or not. I got the new Steam Deck on day 1 and it's been happening since I got the deck in so this issue has been present across multiple system updates. I would have just chocked it up to the headphones not officially supporting the Steam Deck but they worked wonderfully with the LCD Deck so I'm not sure what's going on.

Thank you for any help anyone can provide!

Try to disable DRD in the BIOS, if it's not already. It's known to cause USB issues like that.

I was going to comment that it is working for me. So I plugged it out and it was still connected. So I've been plugging in the dongle and using the bluetooth connection without it going through the dongle.

Having the exact same issue. Have even gone through the same steps you listed above with the exact same results. Anyone have luck solving this? I love those headphones for their convenience and low latency so I'm really hoping they can still work with the OLED.

@Matterlord1 I actually found the fix! I'll copy and paste here-

In the BIOS (turn off, then hold volume up, press power, wait for boot loader) I changed USB Configuration -> USB Dual Role Device from DRD -> XHCI. This solved the problem. DRD (Dual Role Device) is still a relatively new standard that I assume a lot of these audio devices don't support.

Based on multiple comments I read, older LCD decks have XHCI on by default, but for some reason they changed the OLEDs to have DRD on by default.

Worked like a charm for me! Hopefully that can help you and others pulling their hair out looking for a fix!

I can confirm that this does NOT completely resolve the issue. The dongle will work for a bit, especially if you have the dongle plugged in as the Deck restarts. However, if you put the Deck into sleep and wake it up, audio does not play through the dongle (even though the dongle is still shown as connected in SteamOS). Still looking for a proper fix to this issue.

Are you talking about desktop mode or game mode? It sounds like Pipewire remembered the wrong settings for you device.

XHCI and DRD resolves connection issues.

Pipewire changes your output in response to events.

Game mode. Switching from DRD to XHCI resolves some issues, but does not completely fix the issue for me as the dongle doesn't initialize correctly as a device when the Deck wakes up from sleep. Others have also reported the same issue in other threads and two of my friends have the exact same issue, even after switching away from DRD. I'll probably have to contact Valve support and ask if they're looking into this.

After some more testing, the USB-C 2.4ghz audio dongle works even after waking the Deck up from sleep, as long as no game is currently active. The issue of the dongle not initializing correctly only crops up for me when a game is being played when the Deck is put into sleep. It happens while playing games directly installed via Steam, it happens when playing a game installed from the Linux itch.io app, it happens when playing a game installed from the Heroic Games Launcher, it happens when playing a game installed from Ubisoft Connect. This issue also occurs, though not consistently, in desktop mode, but it happens consistently in game mode.

It's a bummer, and I hope Valve fixes it sooner than later. It seems they are looking into it given the fact that they moved away from DRD in one of the preview updates.

As someone who plays on my commute, not being able to reliably use my earbuds while simultaneously using the Deck's impeccable sleep mode basically means the Steam Deck OLED is out of contention for me. In the meantime, I just won't use my Deck out of the house, and take my Switch with me instead.

Update: I was able to get my Soundcore VR P10s working as intended on the Steam Deck OLED by updating the firmware of both the earbuds and the dongle using the Soundcore Android app. You can update the earbuds firmware via bluetooth, and you can update the USB-C dongle's firmware by connecting it to your phone's USB-C port.

Bumping this thread, the issue is still happening. I changed the settings in the bios as well. The sound works in menu but as soon as I load up a game the sound stops working. This has been an issue for over 6 months since I got my oled and it really needs to be fixed.

Had the same issues as you. Followed the posters advice directly above yours and it's now resolved.

Install the anker soundcore software on your phone, pair your ear buds to your phone, plug the dongle into the usb c port of your phone and update firmware on the dongle and ear buds.

After doing this my audio dropout issues after launching into games is resolved.
