USB DRD mode causing boot failures and devices to be unrecognised

A search for "DRD" will find many, many people running into this.

In my case my OLED Deck failed to recognise any newly plugged in USB devices when using a USB-C hub, and failed to boot entirely if any devices were plugged in. Though it did work if I plugged in only the hub while booting, then plugged in other devices after the system was started.

Entering BIOS and changing USB settings from DRD to XHCI resolved all issues. Booting is now fine and hot plugging devices works without a hitch.
