Yep ! After the recent update my battery has been draining 1 % every 3 minutes. The battery is reading it’s times wrong for instance at like 20 % it will say I have 2 hours left. It now only takes 1 hour to charge the deck when before it took 3 hours approx. the led never turns off I leave it over night and says full.
The battery health dropped
From 100% to 93% and than back to 100% in desk top mode. After this recent update it completely borked my battery.
It worked perfectly for a year prior and broke literally right after this trash new update which also caused audio issues and crashes too.
Edit : the battery is also draining even when turned off !!!
Valve needs to fix this this is unacceptable all I have now is a useless paper weight.
So to confirm its draining 1% every 3 minutes when tethered?
Sounds like your Deck is experiencing a lot more problems than mine, mine just doesn't show it's charging in SteamOS when it's plugged in and it discharges slowly when I game which didn't happen before (same games, same charger).
What does tethered mean ?
My drains down fast when not plugged into the charger. It also drains when completely shut down and off. Over night. The led light never turns off to indicate it’s Charged. And it gives inaccurate readings. Crashes and audio crackle.
When mine is in plugged in it seems it by pass the battery once it appears to be full and runs off the charger and does not drain so that appears to be the opposite issue.
Tethered meaning when you are plugged in and playing.
It's weird your battery is losing power when the Deck is shut down, it's normal to lose power when sleeping but shouldn't be losing a lot of charge when it's shut down completely.
And yeah the Steam Deck from what I've read supports pass through charging, so when the battery is charged it runs off the charger, which mine is having issues with lately.
Did this happen recently after the recent update or has this been happening for a while. If you have been experiencing this for longer than the recent bugged update it could just be a RMA failing battery situation
Oh ok never heard plugged into a wall adapter as “tethered” I usually associate that with being plugged into Ethernet.
