Steam Deck

[Bug?] All Non-Native resolutions restricted to 60 Hz on a 144Hz monitor
The only resolution where my SteamDeck can go beyond 60 Hz is the monitor's native resolution of 1440p.
All lower, non-native resolutions (e.g. 1080p, 720p) are hardstuck at 60 Hz.
When connected to my PC using the same DisplayPort cable, there is no restriction: all the monitor's available resolutions can be set up to 144 Hz.
For many games this defeats the purpose of lowering the resolution to bump the framerate above 60 fps.
Can anyone else replicate this issue or does the SteamDeck just not get along with my monitor's EDID?

if you are playing with mouse and keyboard you should be using the desktop mode anyways. there you can set the refresh rate separately from the resolution.

Tried the developer setting but unfortunately, the refresh slider caps out at 60 Hz.
Any resolution below the monitor's native 1440p is hard locked at 60 Hz.

You might have to provide your monitor edid. Plugin your monitor and dump the edid file.

find /sys -name "edid"

Get the /edid path here

You are probably asking for a feature request I think at gamescope.

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope/issues

Subsitute the correct path to the edid file. eDP-1 is more likely the internal screen. DP-1 is more likely the external screen

sudo cat /sys/devices/pci?????/path/to/drm/card0/card0-DP-1/edid > viewsonic_ XG270QG.edid

I believe you can also contact Steam support and they will forward to devs.

You can test the edid file with this application. https://flathub.org/apps/net.sourceforge.wxEDID

Yeah I’m having the same issue too. I’m using a 2k monitor at 144hz and r caps at 60. Desktop mode works fine though
