Steam+X shortcut not working in gaming mode

As it says in the title, I cannot get the on-screen keyboard to appear using the shortcut. It will show up when I select a text box, or when I use the dedicated button in the keyboard section of settings, and when it does I can use the shortcut to banish it, but not summon it again. All the other shortcuts work.

Some people on the forums who had a similar issue a while back said they got around it by just using the show keyboard option in the (...) button menu, but it seems like an update removed that feature. For some reason.

I noticed that this stopped working (In game mode, OUTSIDE of a game) around November 11th. I don't know what caused this to happen, but it was during a beta OS or client update on that exact day. There may have been some sort of configuration or controller change, because when I reinstalled the factory steam OS (keeping games and user data intact) with the steam recovery image (this set the client date to March 2022 and OS Date to April or May 2022), the Steam+X hotkey STILL did not work when NOT running a game, while using the default Game Mode.

A full wipe wouldn't work since it would just forcibly update the OS and Client anyway after you log in...)
