Apex Legends - Steam Deck controller not working.

No matter what I try, still when I reboot it acts as if I am connected with a mouse and keyboard and the game doesn't respond to any input on SD Controller.

Edit: just tried reverting all settings in the game again and for some reason that did the trick, keeping this up for posterity.
