Steam Deck

Steam Deck

if you use alt f4 everything breaks
if you connect a external keyboard and press alt f4 it closes the steam deck ui and leaves you in a terminal until you restart the steam deck

ctrl+alt+F... keys switch into a different TTY. Your ctrl was probably stuck, either physically on the keyboard or just stuck as "pressed" in software. I doubt alt+f4 would even do anything anyways to close any software in gaming mode

Yeah, I just tried it myself. Alt+F4 on its own does nothing, but Ctrl+Alt+F4 brings me to a terminal. Specifically identified as tty4. Ctrl+Alt+F1 will get you back to the graphical environment. Interestingly F2 and F3 don't seem to do anything (alternate uninitialized graphical environments?), though going higher than 4 will bring you to other TTY instances.

I do not have Ctrl pressed, Alt+F# alone will do it, though Alt+F1 takes you back to the gaming environment.

This in in the gaming environment, it works as expected in the desktop environment.

This will be confusing to Windows users and should be adjusted to Ctrl+Alt+F#/
