8bitdo Pro 2 controller won't reconnect in Switch mode

I am not sure if the amazing team of Valve who frequently push great bug fixes can even address this, I have also contacted the controller manufacturer with this directly, but in case something can be done from your side I though to post it here anyway.
This is an issue with the "8bitdo Pro 2" controller that I wanna use for docked play with the steam deck.

Since I want to make use of gyro and I know that is only available in "Switch mode", I use that mode (the controller has a switch also making it usable in X-Input-mode for example). I am able to pair the controller with the system just fine, it gets recognized as a "pro controller".
The problem is though: When I disconnect the controller and come back to it another time, the controller will NOT pair anymore at all. I can only reset this by deleting the entry in the Bluetooth list completely, but of course that is annoying and should not be necessary. I have confirmed that when using an actual, made by Nintendo, Switch Pro controller, this issue does not arise.
When I connect the controller in X-input mode, this issue does not come up (and the controller is recognized as what it actually is). But for the Gyro to work, I need Switch-mode.

I hope this can be fixed and after some googling, this exact issue has been reported by every other user wanting to use this controller with the steam deck as well, so it is definitely not just me.

I also have this issue, the only way I can get the controller to auto-connect is by putting the pro 2 into X mode, which disables the gyro...

Plug it into your computer and update the firmware. That fixed it for me just now.
