Xbox Elite Series 1 controller USB Dongle not recognized by steam deck dock
As stated in title, the steam deck dock will not recognize and provide power to the USB dongle of the series 1 elite controller in either of the three USB ports. The dongle will not power on and show a white light indicating it is either paired or trying to pair after holding the button on the dongle to enter pairing mode.

The same controller and dongle works flawlessly with a steam link and provides full wireless input, and customization. The controller and dongle also work without issues on my desktop pc running windows 10, and steam fully recognizes the controller when powered on.

My steam deck dock has no issues with other wireless devices such as my Logitech mouse and Corsair k70 wireless keyboard which both use a dongle. i do not have any other wireless peripherals to test.

I have tried a couple of recommended fixes such as updating the controller through the windows xbox accessories app. No update was available for the controller on 10-15-22. I have also tried tried removing custom profiles from the controller through the same xbox accessories app, and deleting custom controller names. I have also tried to install the xone driver/utility on desktop mode of the steam deck but was unable to successfully install the program as it needed write permission to do so (admittedly; i am not well accustomed to linux based operating systems so this error may be more easily resolved by someone with greater knowledge and experience.)

Assuming it's the Xbox Wireless Adapter (may or may not be "For Windows 10" afterwards), this device currently doesn't have a driver in the Linux kernel. There's an open-source driver project that allows Linux systems, including the Steam Deck, to use it, but it requires write access to the system files, which is disabled by default on SteamOS to prevent applications from messing things up. You can disable this write protection, but know that any changes you make to the system (aside from your own files in /home/deck) will be lost when SteamOS updates itself.

At the moment there's no official way to get this working. Hopefully Valve will integrate the driver into SteamOS.
