Origin steam games won't launch offline

As title says, i cannot launch origin titles bought through steam offline. I tried to find a way into the origin settings but the in game overlay is very bare bones.

I guess the steam auto login into origin doesn’t work when offline?

Edit: found a way to alt tab to origin in desktop mode, going to play with settings and see if I can get it working.

I found a workaround that doesn’t require adding every origin install from every origin game in the compatdata directory to steam:

1: Be connected to WiFi
2: Launch the game in desktop mode
3: alt-tab (R1+select on my deck) over to origin. There will be many weird looking windows, but one of them should have a “settings” option. Clicking this should open a proper origin window.
4: in origin settings, select ‘library’ for startup
5: Click the origin button on the top left, click ‘sign out’. It won’t let you because the game is running, but leave the prompt up because this will prevent origin from exiting when you close the game.
6: right click the game on the task bar and close it.
7: now sign out of origin.
8: origin should now show a login window, login with your origin credentials, select ‘keep me signed in’.
9: let it fully sign in and download what it wants to (mine downloaded the game’s soundtrack)
10: exit origin, that should be it

11: let’s check if it worked, turn WiFi off
12: launch game in steam
13: origin window pops up with your username already filled out. Enter you password and hit enter
14: origin signs in offline and game launches in offline mode.

You can go back into game mode, once origin remembers your username it works. You just have to enter your password each time when offline to launch a game. My guess is that when you are online origin just uses your linked Steam profile and didn’t actually save your profile info.

This is janky and isn’t a replacement for proper offline mode integration between steam and origin, but it works until this issue gets fixed.

This is an issue with Origin and not Steam. Valve could pressure EA, but they'd likely leave if Valve tried to force it
