Deck boot looping after the most recent software update. (3.2)
Just ran a software update on the deck and now it boot loops 3/4 times on power on before it eventually logs in successfully.
Switching to desktop mode also seems to now sometimes cause the system to boot loop.

Edit -
Just noticed on the successful boots, it always seems to perform some kind of update/recovery before reaching the main home screen. But if you restart the device after this, the looping will start again.

Time to re-image the deck!
Knurek Jun 3, 2022 @ 12:08pm
I'm having the same issue. Deck boot logo gets graphical corruption and can outright reboot there, if not it goes to 'input password' screen and then just shuts down a few times afterwards before finally logging in.
Thermals for CPU and GPU seem to be in order (70-80ish C), and once it successfully logs in, I can run demanding games (tried Witcher 3) for prolonged periods of time without crashes.
It's just the boot looping thingy.
Tried both on stable and beta channels, same thing.

Ah yes forgot to mention that. There is soemtimes graphical corruption on the boot animation and the reboot can kick in even during the boot logo animation, exactly as you described.

Worst case I'll re-image the deck but thats a last resort. There's so much I've setup on it :(

I just had this issue as well. I saw a post about it on the subreddit, so I thought i'd check and it did a bootloop and the second time had the green pixels in the boot logo. It logged in but then crashed almost immediately and I turned it back on and it worked fine this time, altho it had the green pixels again. Hoping they fix this in a patch before it gets bad, as I don't have what I need to reimage. Is there confirmation that the Beta channel doesn't have this issue? I'd rather not switch to it but I will if I have to.

Same issues on the beta channel.

I saw this once but I’m sort of waiting for updates before I continue playing with it.

Greetings,

Reporting the same problem here since 3.2 update:

-Intro logo has visual glitches (Green pixels to be more precise).

-Sometimes it boot loops (so far about 2 times and always a cycle of 2-3 loops) it's like it loads session and then machine restarts all the sudden, after 2-3 loops it works fine.

-Temperatures and performance is correct, no crashes so far.

-Stable channel, I did know about this bug from other reports but forgot to put my Deck on offline mode so when I turned it on it downloaded it and when I started session next time, it was installed, my bad there.

Hopefully a patch will be deployed soon, wish I could go back to 3.1 hehe

Have a nice day, eveyone.

Relieved to see this isn't an isolated issue with just me. Fingers crossed someone from Valve can identify the issue and push out a software update which fixes it.

I really hope it's not a permanent hardware fault, graphical corruption and the fact that the login cookies somehow get damaged during the boot process are certainly worrying.

what?

I am having the same issue. Seems like the latest update that was meant to fix slow logins somehow made this issue occur. Never had this happen before.

It was happening in the update before the slow log in one. They just thought the slow log in was more important for whatever reason.

I can confirm I'm getting this same issue. On top of this, I'm finding after this update that games are taking much longer to launch, and some are even launching to a black screen. Quite frustrating, but hopefully nothing a quick patch can't fix.
