[Audio] Sped up and Crackling Audio after resuming from Sleep Mode (FFVI PIXEL REMASTER)
On the Beta patch. Ever since the most recent update, audio gets sped up and crackles after resuming a game from Sleep mode. Only been able to replicate it on FFVI Pixel Remaster but probably applies to other games. Also noticed some audio crackling with just general use of Steam Deck, probably a Pulseaudio quirck. Seems odd SteamOS launched with Pulseaudio by default, Pipewire seems more consistant with eliminating audio crackling.

Noticed that too on a few of my games today.

I was getting this a TON about a month ago in Persona 4 and Serious Sam Fusion, but haven't, at least since the refresh rate change beta got pushed out.

Since then I got it once in Persona 4 but it fixed itself.

I had this happen for Super Lucky’s Tale, which doesn’t have a verification rating yet but otherwise plays perfectly.

Sometimes sound of Left act wierd., it's stop for a half sec or bit lower volume, and make a noticeable effect or completely

so don't know if this is hardware or software is
there is no real test for it

It's not quite like that, a bit worse and only when you resume from sleep. I've actually not encountered it recently and thought Valve patched it with the most recent beta update where it says "Fixed PipeWire and Steam failing to elevate their thread priorities", (also apparently SteamOS uses Pipewire which I didn't realize). You posted an emulation video, and audio crackling in emulation is a pretty common problem. You may need to tweak your emulator settings.

This version of sonic It's not emulated, it's from the store itself.
This was also 1 of the example I could show, Like with sonic lastworld or batman game I almost get the same result with all of my games. ''Left speaker''

Only with adventure 2 it's was worse with cracks added.

Hmm yeah difficult to tell if it's software or hardware then. You could try accessing your settings from Desktop mode and testing the speakers from the "Audio" tab. If you still hear crackling it could be hardware and require RMA.

It's more than likely a hardware issue, but you could also try running it with GE-Proton as a troubleshooting step since those older games might have unresolved audio issues.

1. In desktop mode, download ProtonUp-QT
2. Launch the program, click "Add Version" and add the latest edition of GE-Proton
3. In game mode, under game properties, edit the game properties and under "Use a compatibility tool" or something to that effect, select that version of GE-Proton you downloaded and launch.

Did not work

but i got a support response for this

''Some games are mixed louder than others, and at higher volume settings some content may trigger the audio system to apply speaker protection. This may distort or disrupt some sounds at higher volume levels but is not a cause for concern. If you're experiencing issues, we recommend turning the volume down a notch or two.''

So conclusion.
Valve need to adress ''protection' higher tolerance

I had crackling sound today in Nier: Automata after waking up. After restarting the game, it was gone. It happened for the first time after about 30 hours and numerous wake-ups. I am in the normal branch.
