Performance overlay permanently open
For some reason, the performance overlay has become permanently enabled for me. I recall it engaging when I accidentally hit the right touchpad with my palm at one point (I know that's not how it's supposed to engage, but that's what I recall happening). No matter the level of performance overlay option I select, it shows the same one in every game. I've dried disabling it in the menu (I have a screenshot of it disabled while still visible, but I don't know how to post it on this forum), as well as exiting the game, switching games, updating my steam deck and restarting, but it's still there.

Any idea how to get it to go away?

I have the same issue except it only comes on when I launch a game.

Same here, it shows for every game and no matter what performance overlay settings I make. It randomly appeared midgame despite the settings saying it should be off.

I've just installed the latest update and the overlay is gone, thanks devs!

Having this same issue, it likewise started when I pressed the right touchpad (for a game that was actually using touchpad-as-mouse controls, even). Updating/restarting hasn't fixed it.

Same issue, unable to remove the overlay.
No updates available.

I'm having the opposite issue. I've never been able to turn on the overlay. I can move the slider in the Settings menu, but it never turns on.

Im having similar issue with overlay - seems like that occasionally when I disable it it still leaves the fps counter on screen until I enable and disable it again.

Same here, any updates?

i just got the deck and updated to 3.2. After setting the fps from 60 to 40 and increasing performance from 0 to 2. Every time a game is launched, the performance stats overlay is displayed in the top left corner. I have tried to turn off the overlay data in the battery settings and reboot the device multiple time. No luck so far. Thanks for listening and working so hard on making the deck a better experience for us all.

Same here. FPS monitor stuck on every game since I received steam deck…

I have found a fix that works for me, in both turning the FPS monitor on and off. In order to turn the monitor off, since that seems to be everyone's issue, use the Performance Overlay Level slider that increases and decreases the amount of information displayed. Keep sliding this back and forth between Off, 1, 2, 3, and 4. It can take a bit, but eventually the information will turn completely off.

I don't know if it's important, but at the bottom of the Performance menu my, "Show Perf Overlay in Steam," is also turned off.

Let me know if this helps anyone.

It's sometimes stuck for me as well. Moving the slider to 1 or 2 and then back to off fixed it every time thus far.

I have the same issue; started when what felt like my right palm touched the track pad and the performance overlay showed up. Almost like a secret key-combo-shortcut. Still trying the suggested fixes, but as yet no luck.

UPDATE: Rebooting then provided slider control again. i.e. if moving your slider is doing nothing, set it to 4 or something greater than off, reboot, slider should start working.
