Volume control bug
I had a problem (it’s fine now) where I would press the button to turn down volume but it wouldn’t do that and instead it would display the volume bar go down 1 volume, then go back up again. I thought it may be that the increase volume button was stuck so that’s why it was acting strangely, however after pressing the increase volume button a few times it instead suddenly reduced its volume completely. I then pressed the reduce volume button a few times without anything changing and then it shot back up to full volume. I then tried alternating the button presses and the volume was just not working the way it should have.

The problem is fine now it just suddenly started working again but I figured I’d post this anyway. Not sure if it was some bug, or if my volume controls just decided to get stuck repeatedly, which seems unlikely because if this was the case then the volume should have changed without me having to press the buttons.

Edit: it is not fine now the problem still continues. I’ll try restarting the deck.

I've also had a very similar bug.

I have been having the exact same problem. At this point it just has the volume stuck going down to zero. I've tried manually raising the volume in the deck settings but it just sends it right back down to zero again.

It's getting really frustrating.

I have the exact same problem. I never even touched the volume buttons and always changed it through the overlay. When I try to increase the volume the slider just goes back to the previous position. It's really annoying. Is there a solution to this? And what is even causing this?

As a hint for the devs: this bug only appeared after I connected a Bluetooth headset to my steamdeck. Now even after disconnecting my headphones this bug persists. So maybe it has something to do with Bluetooth headphones since I never had this bug before.

Mine does this in the overlay, I will set the volume up a few notches, and then after I am done you can see it go back down a click or two lmao, I'm using the new experimental branch so expected some jank.

The only way I have been able to fix it is by turning the device off and own completely. It fixes the bug for me, but I have had it come back a few times since my post. So I don’t have a permanent fix. But it fixed it for a long time for me.

Yes I'm having the same bug when I'm playing ff7 remake.

My issue is that in increases, reboot solves the issue temporarily but it persists. I expect it to continue unfortunately. There has to be a solution for this

I have the same bug when playing far cry games but I can fix it by changing the audio in the steam menu. Happens occasionally still.

I ended up having to RMA it and they replaced the sound board. Everything seems to be in working order so far, literally got it back yesterday.

This just started happening to me but only after it wakes. Anyone find a solution other than RMAing it? I updated the OS and that didn’t fix it. Yes, restarting it fixes it but it comes back once it sleeps and is awoken.

This is already my second Steamdeck and I’d love to not have to send a second one back. :/

Same problem here...

same problem for me - but apparently correlates with the deck changing temperature or something. It happens after a few hours of play time, only sometimes, but then persists even multiple reboots, until the next day

It seems the only fix rn is to shutdown and then turn it back on…
