Steam Deck

Touchscreen not working
So on first boot, I had no touchscreen functionality. Tried software updates, restart, shutdown, factory reset, no change. Booted from USB recovery and it worked for a day. Then randomly stopped. USB recovery does not fix the issue, nor does anything else. Awaiting response from Steam Support.

We've identified a firmware initialization issue that causes the touchscreen to stop responding. The fix is being tested now, and will roll out in an upcoming BIOS update.

If your touchscreen stops responding, a simple reboot is not enough to clear the issue. However, you can reset the touchscreen by putting the Steam Deck into battery storage mode:

  • Power the Steam Deck down normally (choose Shut Down from the Power menu)
  • Hold down the Volume+ button and press the power button. The Steam Deck should boot into the BIOS menu.
  • Using the D-Pad and A to select, navigate to "Setup Utility"
  • Navigate to the Power Menu
  • Choose Battery storage mode, and confirm.

You should see the Steam Deck power off, and the power LED will blink three times to confirm battery storage mode.

Plug the Steam Deck in to the supplied power supply. Turn on the Steam Deck.

Happened to me too and the fix worked. All I can say is it happened while switching between gaming and desktop mode and watching streams in desktop mode.
for those the battery storage mode did not help yet:

proceed it while unplugged and when the battery is at lower than 80%.

re-plugging in will then exit that mode and it should be re-plugged in using the original power supply

I have also tried the power storage mode but hasn't fix the issue for me, any other suggestions
Two updates and both have killed the touch screen, battery storage mode has resolved it twice now...I do have concerns that doing something like this repeatedly could lead to other problems... But glad it works I guess.

Problem still exists on currrent update (non OLED version if that matters), the battery mode fix works for me though.

I can confirm that this issue still occurs on a new and updated Steam Deck OLED as of February 2024, and the battery mode fix works.

The fault seemed to happen after docking the steam deck while in desktop mode.
Steam Deck LCD with OS-Build 20240228.2
Issue still occurs and battery mode fix works.
I also have tried battery storage mode and it's not working for me.
