Steam Input mouse trackpad settings cannot be changed if the binding was created for Steam Controller

I am unable to change the trackpad's mouse settings for Deus Ex: Game of the year Edition if the binding (personal or community) was from the Steam Controller. When I press the cog icon for "right trackpad behaviour", I am pushed back to the "buttons" menu, and cannot proceed further

When I started the game it recognised my previous community binding "Augmented Controller Bindings" I created with the Steam Controller in 2015. When started to play the game's "Training" mode, I noticed that using the right trackpad for "look", swiping horizontally would generate a movement that had a diagonal rotation rather than a horizontal look motion.
I opened the Steam button menu, pressed right twice on the dpad to see the binding layout and then pressed A for the controller settings. Here I chose the change Edit Layout option. Then I chose, trackpad, and then where it says right trackpad behaviour, it says mouse, and also has a cog icon for settings.
When I press the cog icon, I am pushed back to the "buttons" menu, and cannot proceed further. Here is where I notice further oddities that may be related.
When I then try to go to the "Current Layout" and select it, I see two versions of my same config under my layout. One is dated today 02 March 2022, the other 25 Dec 2015 (Originally my binding was a community binding, but a beleive an update in 2016 removed all community bindings at that time - which may be related to this issue).
I first went to the "Community" option and chose the top option "Viktri Umrtvovacz's Bindings", also from the image, a Steam Controller config. I tried to play and found the same issue, trackpad mouse look seemed to have a rotation applied so look was not horizontal but occuring diagonally even with horizontal trackpad swipes. I did the same process of going to the steam input trackpad settings and found the same issue. The cog icon pushed me back to the "buttons" menu.
However, if I load a default template such as "Keyboard WASD and Mouse", this time the horizontal look works a lot more horizontal when horizontally swiping, and when checking the Steam Input trackpad behaviours menu cog icon - I can actually change settings.

It should be investigated why the trackpad behaviours settings menu (cog icon) does not funciton if the bindings are Steam Controller derrived
