Slight audio crackling/static
Happens with anything. Headphones, the speakers and earbuds. (Just to be clear this got fixed after like a few days after because of an update)

This always happens to me with headphones too

Same

I was getting this when I first updated to the 3.5.5

Then there was a prompt to update the firmware. Once I accepted that and rebooted, the static no longer was there.

Check the system update and see if you get the prompt.

I've got this issue on the OLED model. I'm on Stable channel, 3.5.5.

I am getting this issue where sometimes when I launch a game, it will pretty much immediately crackle like crazy until I close the application and restart it (and then it will sound fine). I had this bug occasionally on previous versions but its far more prevalent on this new 3.5 OS.

Did your Steam Deck OLED ship with 3.5.5? I thought people were showing the OLED models shipped with 3.5.6; and the latest recovery image looks to be for 3.5.6 (I haven't personally used it yet to see if it is actually as named or not).

Activate the level 5 of the overlay, and look if in the main menu of the deck, UNCAPPING, the tdp and the gpu, the last one moves constantly between 200 and 1040mhz.

If so, you have the most spread bug of the 3.5.5/3.5.6 wich can cause also the audio cracking.

Probably not 3.5.6 or 3.5.5 given that there were on-boot updates. 3.5.6 is still a Preview channel version. I’m on 3.5.5.

I’m pretty sure you’re on the money. In-game where I can better see the overlay refresh per second, the GPU was constantly switching between 200 and 1040 MHz. Outside of game in main menu, locking GPU Clock to 200 MHz completely reduced to audible hiss!

I got the crackle after updating too the newest os update. It sort of fixed by rebooting. Glad to see I’m not the only one. This is on the OG deck for me.

I’m having this issue on 3.5.7/an OLED LE. The GPU is switching constantly between 200 and 1040 MHz on the main menu as described.

Also having this issue on 3.5.7 on 1TB OLED.

I have a issue with my Steam Deck OLED audio as well. It not working at all even if I change my audio input, nothing seem to work after this update. Not sure if I broke something or it the software.

Edit: The only way I can get audio is when I use headphone or speaker. But going to back to Steam Deck Oled audio it doesn't work still. My other LCD Steam Deck work fine.

Same boat. My OLED has this static sound while on the Home Screen. Checked my regular Deck and it’s non existent. Either a bug or an audio issue.
